Download NewsBin

1) Download NewsBin from the following site: http://www.newsbin.com/index.php?mode=files&task=viewfile&file=13

2) Run the downloaded file, and follow the instructions to setup NewsBin.

When prompted for "News Server Setup", enter "My_Server":

3) Enter Server Address: news.astraweb.com and check the checkbox:

4) Enter your Astraweb username/password:

Configuring NewsBin
To further fine-tune your server settings:

1) Go to "Utilities", and select "Servers":


2) In the "Server Options" dialog box set:

  • "Connections" to 6.
  • You can use "TCP Port" number 120, 119, 23, 1818, or 8080. 


5) NewsBin is now setup with your username/password and our server. You can now login to our server.

Getting the list of newsgroups from our server


1) Go to "Preferences", and select "Group Options".



2) Click the "Download Groups List From Server" button to get the latest list of groups. Click the checkbox next to a newsgroup name (e.g. alt.binaries.pictures.autos) to add the group to your NewsBin group list.


4) Right-click your selected newsgroup, and select "Download All Headers".



5) You will be presented with a similar screen of articles as shown in the following picture. Please take note that it might take a while to download the complete list of articles. Right-click your selected file, and select "Add to Download List", or you can just double-click the selected file.
