Download Usenet Explorer

Usenet Explorer, and the older version also known as NewsPro, will be collectively referred to as UE.

1) Download UE from the following site: http://www.usenetexplorer.com/download.htm

2) Run the downloaded file, and select a destination folder where UE will be installed. eg. C:\UE .

Configuring UE

1) Open UE. The first time you run UE, you will be prompted to choose a folder where UE will store its database files. eg. C:\UE.

Click "Yes" when asked "Do you want to create a new database?"

2) Once launched, go to "File"->"New server"

3) Enter the server details as shown. Make sure you put in your correct username and password.

Getting the list of newsgroups from our server

1) Go to the "Workspace" panel, click the "Newsgroup list" tab, right click on "Astra" server as shown, and select "Open&get newsgroup list"

2) Using the Shift and Ctrl keys, select the newsgroups you want, then right click and select "Subscribe".

3) Click on the "Newsgroups" tab, right click one or more groups and select "Open&get new headers"

4) The panel on the right allows you to view/participate in discussions, and download attachments if available.
